Commute Founder's Story

Every journey tells a story - and somewhere along the way, we realised that the most important part of that story is how you’re cared for along the way.

We’ve all been there. Booking a ride and hoping it shows up on time. Trusting a stranger to get you - or someone you love - safely where they need to go. Wishing for a driver who’s patient, dependable, and kind.

Because travel isn’t always about getting from A to B. Sometimes it’s catching an early flight. Sometimes it’s bringing a parent to a doctor’s appointment. Sometimes it’s a long-awaited family reunion, or a quiet drive to somewhere new. Different journeys - but they all need the same thing: care.

That’s where Commute began - not from a business plan, but from lived experience. As travellers, parents, and family members ourselves, we’ve had our share of stressful rides - the last-minute cancellations, the impatient drivers, the uncertainty of who’s behind the wheel. And we’ve also experienced the difference a caring driver makes - someone who shows up, helps without being asked, and treats every trip like it matters.

Over time, we realised that what makes a journey memorable isn’t the vehicle or the price - it’s the feeling of being cared for. And somewhere along the way, that feeling had disappeared from transport.

So we set out to bring it back - not through fancy cars or technology, but through people who notice the small things.

We also began to see a bigger picture - care isn’t one-size-fits-all. It looks different in every stage of life. Sometimes it means arriving on time for an early flight. Sometimes it means helping a parent safely to their appointment. Sometimes it’s simply slowing down to enjoy the journey together.

That’s how Commute grew - not into separate services, but into different expressions of care.
